SOTA Solutions is a mobile app prototype built on the values and principles of environmental health and protection, pollution prevention, and smart waste management that is accessible to all. Our target audience is the local San Antonio community with the hope to expand to the state and national level. SOTA Solutions, helps people find recycling stations located throughout the city that pay them for the items they recycle. With SOTA Solutions, we can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills, conserve natural resources, prevent pollution, and create new jobs in the recycling and manufacturing industries in the United States.

This project was selected as one of the top ten finalists for the 2020 University of Texas + Adobe Creative Jam (Nov. 6-9). My teammate, Abigail Hallmark, and I competed against 82 teams and completed this jam within 72 hrs.

Challenge
Design a mobile phone app that generates solutions to optimize infrastructure, mobility, public services, utilities, communication, public health, or resource distribution on a local, regional, statewide, or national level. Create a mobile app that meaningfully and positively impacts the community and improves equity.
Purpose
Smart and connected communities integrate mobile technology with its environments. This synergy improves the social, economic, cultural, and environmental health of the communities. Critical disruptions and resource inequality impact multiple populations and make underserved and underinvested communities more vulnerable to negative socio-economic impacts. Connecting people and information builds a stronger, more resilient, and equitable community.
Feedback
Judges evaluated our mobile app design based on these questions provided in the brief:
1. Does the solution address a target audience and their needs
2. Does the prototype solve the problem in an innovative way?
3. Is the user experience and interface intuitive?
4. Is visual design used in a thoughtful and meaningful way?

We received valuable feedback from the judges and learned how to improve our app's visual design and usability. Abigail and I were honored to be selected as one of the top ten finalist among 82 teams from the University of Texas Creative Jam!
